Nearly 50% of students who are bullied show signs of depression


  • Bullying has been linked to cause physical, psychological, mental and educational harm and distress (Center for Disease Control, 2016)

  • Bully related suicides among children and teens has increased significantly

  • Cyber Bullying is more common now than in person bullying has ever been

  • Cyber bullying has significantly increased in the last three years (Patchin & Hinduja, 2016)

Over 100,000 students nationwide miss school daily due to fear of bullying



  • Many schools systems have failed to recognize bullying as a problem on campuses.  This leads to low rates of reporting and higher rates of children and teens not trusting administration and staff.

  • Counselors, Teachers, Staff and and Parents should all be aware of the signs of bullying and provide effective ways of responding for those involved.

  • Many students who do report incidents say that their report has gone unnoticed or has not been followed up by the administrative person that was made aware.

  • Reporting bullying has decreased due to the fear of retaliation.

  • The number of students reporting bullying  to someone has decreased between 2005 and 2015 (National Center for Educational Statistics, 2017)

1 out of 4 children aged 12-18 have reported being bullied during their last school year
